With the ongoing debate and needless politicisation of the Irish language issue by the DUP, I hope I'm not barking up the wrong tree by showing this video as a lighthearted example of how an ability to speak both English and Irish is a good thing. There's nothing fishy about the idea of an Irish Language Act- it will help secure and enhance a linguistic heritage that belongs to everyone on this island, and will promote a greater understanding of where we have come from as we look at where we are going. The DUP and other politicians such as David McNarry may throw dog's abuse at the Irish language and its supporters, but that will not deter those who believe that an act is necessary. Enjoy!

The Irish language is very important to many people on this island - what I dislike about the whole campaign to have an Irish Language Act is the way it has been politicised by Sinn Fein - you would think that they have the monopoly on speaking (trying to speak ) irish - real gaels do not shove the language in everyones face but show it respect and speak only in their native tongue when it is appropriate - for SF to use it as a weapon against their political enemies ( sorry ! Unionist colleagues in the Assembly) or to impress gullible voters who think that all SF MLA's are fluent Irish speakers - is an absolute disgrace - Catriona Ruane (SF Minister of Education)is put up as an Irish speaker by SF - I challenge to her hold a debate, in Irish, with Dominic Bradley ( Education Spokesperson SDLP)on the future of our childrens' future education in NI
Put your Irish where your mouth is!!
