Are things about to take a turn for the worse? Media are reporting that the threat level from non-conforming republicans, aka dissidents, has been heightened. I always take public warnings from MI5 with a large pinch of salt. However, I was stopped the night before last on the way home by a very large number of PSNI officers, some of whom were carrying rifles. It was very much a flash-back to the bad old days. Whatever they were doing, they certainly were not dipping for illegal diesel.

They haven't gone away you know! Do we know exactly how much of the arms were dumped by the IRA ? - maybe there are lots stashed all over the place and the 'dissidents' now know where it is!! Maybe that is why the Brits are so worried - maybe the job of disarming wasn't as thorough as they once thought! I hope not for all our sakes! but maybe!
I see that SF are rolling back from full support of the PSNI attempts to find the killers of the policeman and the 2 soldiers in the recent atrocity - they are not happy that people are being kept more than 7 days for questioning - surely that is a short time considering these 3 souls will be spending a lifetime in eternity - put your money where your mouth is SF and stop being two faced!
